A faecal float test will usually not detect tapeworms because the eggs are shed as proglottids and are too large and heavy to show up in the sampling process.

I would think if she brought in some of the proglottids to examine, they could determine if it is tapes by opening one where there should be multiple eggs.

Not all tapeworms shed proglottids. Some pass eggs into the feces like other worms.

As I suggested in the other thread, I think you need to treat with the correct amount of praziquantel, which is no less than 4.54 mg per pound of body weight, and repeat in 10-14 days. Since you're in Australia, another drug you could use is Wormout Gel. I think that's made in AU.

I’ve treated with Avitrol plus last time. Someone on this forum told me I might not have given them enough so I treated them again last Thursday with a stronger dose.
Avitrol plus is Levamisole and Praziquantel. I will retreat on sunday, 10 days later. I’ve also been told to try Equimax.

I think I was the one that told you that you didn't give enough. I think I told you that a five pound hen should get 6 tablets because the stuff you have is 4 mg praziquantel per tablet.

Equimax could also be used.

Yes! And I gave 6 tablets so we shall see how it goes. ahah. I still need advice on how to get rid of worms eggs in my backyard. Never ending problem those worms.

Yep and there’s barely anything on internet about how to treat. Someone said sprinkle hydrated lime in the backyard but that can burn the chickens!
