I had to show my husband that pic of the Buckeye, we really love that breed. I tried them and they didn't do so well in my area (actually it was disasterous) so I am really jealous. He truly is a gorgeous bird, and should do wouderfully in your project.
I just went back and checked my pic dates my two are exactly 6 months old. Don't know the weights. They are not as big as the giants they came from, which is a good thing - I really would like to see them make it to two years before I feel like I have something sustainable.
I have a hen from this group she's getting huge, I'm afraid she won't last forever but I have hopes for these two boys. I'll have to get a pic of her the coloring is most interesting.
I'll get weights soon, chick season has me running a little crazy right now.
I get the want for the white, but I prefer the colored birds. White to me looks too industrial but then again though I skin all our meat so colors never an issue. Wife's a cardiac nurse so the crispy skin choice is LONG gone
