Hello,

I have seen some red silkies eggs on eaby for sale. What is being crossed to prodcue red silkies. Any info yiou could give me would be appreciated. I am interested in working on this color.

Red silkies are just dark buffs. They were originally developed by finding the darkest buffs and breeding them together.
 
I bought my red Silkie from Ideal(actually I ordered 5 red but only one lived, also ordered 5 grey with same results)The red looks to me like it has partridge in it.
but then it is from Ideal and it may HAVE partridge in it.

Maybe you can tell a little in the pics, see the wing feathers?
I can try to get better pic tomorrow showing the wings.
and yes it only has 4 toes...but I only got one and HAD to keep it!

So then what was used to get the buff orginally. Thanks for the help and pictures

I ordered 2 Buff silkies from MM and they both lived but one looks partridge and the other one is no where near the cool Gold color I wanted

Silkies are so cool though! I also Ordered 2 blue and got 2 black
