Redneck Nesting boxes

Ok, laugh!! Here is a fantastic laugh for you today! Just got done constructing what I call my temporary nesting boxes... hahaha!! This is what they are constructed of......... ready for this???? : 1 8'x2' piece of plywood, 1 old rickety homemade ladder, 3 fantastic cardboard boxes, and this is ALL off the ground by, brace yourself, A TIRE!!!!!! hahaha... Enjoy the picture!!

Lol, we shall see. I just put them in, haven't had eggs in 2 weeks, so maybe tomorrow!!! I have 1 pullet hopefully ready to lay! my hubby says she looks like she's going to esplode!!​

Hey, those looks like mine! Well, not quite, but I used cardboard for a few days. My chicks started laying earlier than I expected. Nothing like some eggs to motivate me to get their coop done!

Btw, my chicks were completely confused by my boxes. Hope yours are smarter than mine were!

I love it!!!! Great idea! I want to "rig" something together for the coop I just built. I like the traditional nesting box, but I want something more fun!

A good friend of mine told me that a chicken will lay in a five gallon bucket with some straw if it's laying on its side up against the house.

I think that was from his personal experience, knowing him.
