Hello. I have 4 chicks that are nearing 3 weeks old. I have been changing the litter in the 2’x3’ brooder evey 4 days. Under the litter is a ton of un-eaten chick feed. How long can it be left there, and how do i know when to remove it all. A lot is being wasted. (Using an XL Varikennel plastic dog kennel as my brooder).

Every time you clean the shavings/litter trash the food too.

You can try soaking the feed/fermenting it so you don't have as much food waste.

If your using a chick feeder, set it inside a cardboard box that's a little bigger, it will catch all that feed and won't be wasted. If you don't have a small box, get a piece of cardboard and make a tray.

Great idea. I will try this.
