Requesting advice for converting a shed into a Coop and building a run

I have one 36" wide nest box for 9 RIR's works well. I've seen up to 4 in there from time to time. No fighting over a favorite nest box and always room for one more. I would just put a 24" nest box where you show 4 through the wall. If you make it a roll out nest box like mine you get clean eggs. You would not need the lid like I have just a box with a sloping floor and a dividing wall with a 3" gap for the eggs to roll out.

Also you should put your location in your profile.

What is a roll out nest box and do you have plans I could follow to make one?

STATUS UPDATE I filled any cracks with concrete and I bought blackjack 57 to coat the walls to waterproof and protect the wood. When the cement fully cures I will coat that with waterproof as well.

Great!!
.... but make sure it's warm enough long enough for that stuff to cure properly.

My coop dimensions will be 4feet by 16 feet.

Wondering if I should make a multi level roost like this pic at the very end of the coop opposing the human entry door which will give them plenty of room to fly down or should I make one long roost the length of the coop with a chicken ladder walkway (what are those things called?)

If I make a long roost it will take up half of the 4 foot width and they might not have room to fly down if they prefer that over the ladder thing but then wouldn’t fight over the highest point. Also the longer roost could fit more chickens?

Not my pic.

You could put two 4' roosts 12" from the wall and a 4' x 4' poop board under that. Add some Sweet PDZ to the poop board for easy cleanup. Put the roosts 8" to 10" above the poop board and they can hop down to the poop board and fly to the floor. You could also add a ramp so they could walk down.

Where do plan on putting the nest box?

If the roost needs to be 12” from the wall, then wouldn’t the perpendicular roosts need to be 3x3’? If the y were under a 4’x 4’ poop box?

Going to put the nest box on the partition like you said.

I was thinking one roost on the right wall and one on the left but that will work as well. Make the back one go the full 4' then add a 3' one on the right. The way you have drawn it they have a bigger landing pad to hop down to.

I bought corrugated plastic roofing on clearance. It blocks 99% of UV rays but allows sunlight in. This will keep the run dry but also debating on providing shaded areas. Pros/cons of this roofing choice?
