It was going to be "Flopsy" but after our bath, I'll need to change it to something not quite so cute. What are those winged female demon things with teeth called?

d.k :

*how do they look now that they're clean?

Actually, not much different. I was afraid to scrub too much, you can tell it hurts her.

You are a life saver, way to go we need more people like you. She will really love you when this is all over, you will be her mommy. PS I would have like to see you give her the leg bath hahah

oh my...this story has my dander up!
poooooor little thing! Bless you for taking on the challenge. Now the main thing is since there is obvious injury is to ensure that no staph sets in.
Go to your drugstore or pharmacy and ask for HIBICLENS... this is an excellent disinfectant based on chlorhexidine which is advised for wounds... use that after her foot bath (daily) in epsom salts/ sterile saline (which you can make up yourself by simply boiling 1/4 tsp salt in a quart of water for five minutes). I would be hesitant to use the microfiber cloth as if there is scaley leg mite damage this has oftne resulted in the scales being lifted and the tiny fibers will catch and pull causing pain. Use a paint brush to gently clean the leg (will gently scrub without catching on the scales if you are careful with it). After cleaning gently pat dry with a papertowel and then dip her feet in the hibiclens. Let airdry and then dip in mineral (baby ) oil to suffocate any scaley leg mite.
Here is an article on the ivermectin product you can safely use on her (use the SPOT-ON method where you apply topically on base of neck)-it will also treat most worms.

...it sure would be nice if you could find a BYC member close to you that already had the product that you could purchase a small amount from.

Thanks so much for all the support everyone! I'll go into town today and see what I can get, but pickins are slim around here. I will do what I can to keep her comfortable till I get back Tuesday, then I can try and find a vet or at least be able to get some stronger medicine. I'm already dreading the next foot bath, of course I'll do it but i'd rather be shot instead. Who knew such a tiny chicken was so strong! She'll need a bath after she's healed up, she smells pretty bad, I don't know if it's from fear or some other problem, but one thing at a time.
I'll put up pics on Tuesday, then maybe someone can tell me what breed she is. She's cute. The same way bears are cute until they rip your arm off...

dhlunicorn, how much epsom salts in the water? I'm the type of idiot who thinks more is better. I'm sure I used too much antibacterial soap last night, then again, I wasn't expecting her to behave like a butter churn.

not more than one tablespoon in a gallon of water (warm)... only the feet... not the body or anything... this is when you want to "scrub" the feet/ "ankles" very gently with that brush (I use a paint brush)... just gently and after a couple minutes rinse off and then pat dry and continue as explained above. Do not overdo the epsom salt and rinse of after.

I wasn't expectig her to behave like a butter churn.

They can be used for stomping grapes too.

Lovecraft transcribed the pronunciation of Cthulhu as "Khlûl'hloo" Long after Lovecraft's death, the pronunciation "Kathoolhoo" became common.

She's cute. The same way bears are cute until they rip your arm off...

Thank you so much for getting me laughing already.

If I haven't said yet, I love your name...he was in Saqqura correct? I'm an Egyptophile from way way back.
