Everyone was vaccinated as chicks except Hope i dont know if she was. Tonight Angel seemed ok, but got up in the nest box and won't leave. Just like Hope did the night i thought she went broody. Next day was it, so tomorrow we will see.

Okay. I hope Angel is alright!!! Hopefully she's better in the morning. Do you have a vet nearby? Maybe take her there to see if she has anything..... Just a suggestion.

I agree if this goes badly I would get a neocropsy done so you know for sure what's going on. I really hope and pray she's fine tomorrow.

yup, I will get a necropsy done if she goes. No more fooling around here. She was up an out the door this morning at daylight, but still not herself. I dont get paid until Sat. so a vet visit is in order I do believe. I think we should do some bloodwork asap.

Is she eating and drinking?? At least she's moving around and she isn't super lethargic. Is she acting like Hope did? Yes, I would agree to do some bloodwork.

yea, she is eating but less than normal. Not killing herself to get to mealworms (as did Hope) drinking, but less than normal. Staying in egg box - spent the night there. was still there is am (as did Hope) Comb a little floppy this am.(Hopes was first day, and second day went pale before she died) NOT broody.

ETA: I took her out of the next box and put her on the floor. She stood there for a few seconds, waited until everyone else was outside, then meandered out. Not normal for her. She's the first one out usually.

If she was in the same nest box as Hope, I'd totally clean that out. Disinfect, even w/ an organic cleaner (vinegar/BS mix or whatnot).

Also, I'd say check for blood suckers. There could be some lurking right inside the box's grooves. Run a thin knife along the gaps & see if it comes up bloody. If so, I'd def kill 'em & reseal the grooves w/ some caulking.

Yes, I would definitely do that. Does she seem to be doing any better?

She wasnt in the same nest box as Hope at all. Would mites hit them that hard that quick?

On a totally different note, i just had to add that I got a phone call from Hope's origianl owner today. I was really NOT happy about having to talk to him,but I gotta do my job. So in talking with him, he asked how Hope was. He actually remembered her. I told him the story of her and he said he was sorry that I had lost her. Then I asked about his 'girls'. He started eagerly telling me about how he installed 2 industrial size fans in their 'shed' and windows. how he started using straw on the floor and used a heated waterer this winter. He was surprised at what a difference it was all making on the hens. He asked me back out to the farm to look at some stuff for advise on his piglets that he had gotten a few weeks ago.

SO, maybe this wasn't all in vain? Maybe Hope was really given to me to give his flock hope?
