Okay, I will get tylan and watch them and I’ll use that if they get worse before I’m able to get my hands on some baytril. Is there going to be a time I have to wait to stop one and start another? What about eg withdrawals?

That or I know you can get fish antibiotics? Would any of those be better and cover more of the same thing that clavamox does?

You can give Tylan and Baytril at the same time I think, so no need to wait. Withdrawals, probably two weeks for the Tylan. Baytril though, is not approved for use in poultry and some people will tell you it's a lifetime withdrawal, but that's not what I do, I use it but I wait 2-4 weeks before eating the eggs.

Clavamox is amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium. The closest fish one would be amoxicillin, but amoxicillin on it's own is not as effective in treating stuff like e. Coli.

okay, I’ve heard about it being banned for commercial use, so I couldn’t easily find anything. Thank you so much! I’ll be sure to update how things go and I’m sure I’ll come up with more questions, now that the vet has kind of left me on my own. I’ve been slowly building up my poultry first aid kit, but haven’t bought a ton of antibiotics because I’m not the first to throw antibiotics and things and potentially cause resistance. I might need to stock up now lol.

@casportpony Ok, so I began tylan injectable orally this morning and just gave everyone their second doses. As I went, I squeezed everyone's nares to see if/how many bubbles came out. Two of them (Penguin and Quackers) seemed to have even more bubbles than they did this AM. The soluble powder arrived also. Should I switch to that? My biggest concern with that is that we're in the middle of a heat wave, so they really need their pool. How long should it be before I notice a difference?

Additionally, I have terramycin and vetericyn ophthalmic gel on hand. Should I use those for the ones who are having the eye bubbles?

Finally, I thought MG/MS affected the eyes mainly. Is that true? I'm still trying to hold onto hope that this is not that, but then I would need to continue searching for answers.

I called the state lab today (I am in CT) to inquire about testing for MS/MG. The person I spoke with said that the state will actually send out inspectors for free to collect samples for testing if I were to also allow them to be tested for Avian Influenza. Have you ever heard of anything like this? It sounds like it would be a big logistical thing. I might call back and see about just submitting tests myself.

To me, that sounds like a good thing to do, to let them send out someone to test them. And it would save a lot of money. AI is pretty rare, and you would have probably heard about it being a problem in your area if there was a chance of it. But that is just my opinion.

Ok, it just seemed a bit too good to be true. I would still have to pay for the testing; it would just be getting the tests performed that I would not have to pay for.

I have done research and since discovered that. I had a drake whom I took to the vet for a swollen hock and intermittent sneezing in June. I'm now really wondering if the vet missed something and that was when something began.
