Good morning, it's nice to be back 😊 I missed everyone

Hi Sue! :frow So glad you are on the mend and back with us.:hugs
Thank you 😊 we are taking it one day at a time and I have found that I need to stay out of the sun and not have a lot of people around at the same time. For some reason this tend to raise my blood pressure.

All the more reason to stick with chickens imo. People do that to me to.

Look, not a person in sight.:love

A combination of things MJ.
I hope this won't offend anyone but I could see the UK adopting the worst points of America and not the better ones. Even then the anti European lobby was growing. I know the EU has lots of problems but I can't cope with the xenophobic right wing British politics.
Also, my company had gone bust a couple of years earlier and once you've been self employed, many employers are reluctant to take you on. They know you're unlikely to stay.
The people here made me an offer and the opportunity to have use of this much land and better weather, and more importantly, time to myself, even though I would be cash poor, I couldn't turn away.
I had acquired most of the things that are important to me and a lot more stuff that wasn't.
The people here were not coping for a number of reasons and I could do the things they couldn't.
Travel was cheap and easy so my friends and daughters could come out to visit and I could lead a better life with respect to those things I think are important.
I can't handle xenophobia either. Lucky for me, I see very little of it although some of my extended family members hold extremely questionable views and then respond with anger when the questions inevitably arise. They're deaf to the persecution in their words and unwilling to consider other ways of thinking, because of this I no longer hold respect for them.

I just feel sad for people like that. To be so close minded as well. I can't even begin to understand how to relate to them. 😞

The brain is a complex and endlessly interesting organ.

There is a podcast on our ABC radio at the moment called "Brain on Nature" that is written by a women who had a traumatic brain injury that didn't appear to affect her physically but she couldn't read or be around loud noises without getting dreadful headaches/migraines. She learnt that if she took a walk on the beach or the bush or lay down under a tree in the garden for 10 minutes she could often avoid the headaches.

It is an interesting listen if you are interested.
