Ribh's D'Coopage

What??? You mean it isn’t all idyllic strolling through pastures with a little flock of sheep Following in a most docile manner at your heels; of course their wool will be pristine and they will smell like roses too! :lau I have been trying to decide if I should attempt to wash away the cow patty at the bottom of the trailer steps, or if it will freeze (unlikely) or dry out (even less likely!) enough so I can scrape it away more easily. It’s on the outdoor carpet that was supposed to help cut down on the mud we track inside, but is now so coated with various types of poop I’m thinking of trying to source another to just layer over it. Not to mention when they poop on your car or truck!
This! Exactly! 🤣

Crikey! Here's me wishing I hadn't made her sick in the first place!

But there's something to be said for realising when a chicken is sick and then doing the best you can for them.
Yes. You do a fabulous job with them. :hugs :hugs

Why do you think that is? I too have noticed that. I find myself also trending in your direction but many others seem to head in the opposite direction. I find it exhausting to harbor anger and resentment. It takes real work to be mean and spitefull.

Understand that I grew up in that environment. I know it all too well. Mrs BY Bob grew up in a coal town. There was not a lot of nature. The farm life remains idyllic to her at this point.

Frankly the reasons for not doing so are multiple and I cannot down play the financial implications. I would likely have to stay in a high pressure job another 5 years longer than planned in order to make up the difference. I don't love this house but it's mine. I wish it was further out but I did not want that life when we bought this. So here I am likely to remain.

You can get mini jerseys and dexters... way less trouble than goats IMO, but then you have to get them bred for milking, and then you need to deal with the calves... so cute! Not to mention milking at least once every. Single. day. Yeah, maybe just buy milk... seriously though, cattle are the easiest normal livestock to “manage” as far as I’m concerned.
Mini coos? I had no idea there were mini-coos! How adorable! But I am not starry-eyed about farm life - I will be content with crops just for me and chickens.

Aurora is ahead of Peggy I think.

Peggy was crabby because she had a guts ache and because Mary had been on the brood. They're thick as thieves now the dust has settled.
There's that reading ahead thing again.

That is a good curse. :thumbsup
Yeh, not just one pants. All their pants!

Gaaaahhhh! Where did all these ants come from! I need to change my pants.
...
Not these pants too!??
...
And these ones :hit
...
