This is why Regan is such a great lead hen for the Littlies!
She looks deformed but Titania is snuggled up under that deformed looking wing & Regan is ok with that. You can see Titania's tail feathers poking out the back. :)

Regan is a real gem. I bet you are so glad that you took the chance on her. 🥰 She also has a great name! 😉

This time I am serious. How do you keep this from freezing? I know that you get freezing temperatures.
I looked into this a lot while designing the Chicken Palace. What a lot of people do is put a circulating pump (like in an aquarium) to keep the water moving and therefore un-frozen in the PVC.
I keep thinking I might do this but never quite making the leap. For now the heated waterer you recommended works just great for me.

That makes sense but i can't imagine that works below 0°F. Plus, there is no way I want to deal with a frozen pipe because my circulating pump lost power the way my heated water dish did the other day. That is not nearly as easy a fix.

We are looking at a single digit low tonight. Are you?

I just adore your littles and their cuddle puddles ❤

Your logic about what happens if it goes wrong is the main reason I haven't done it. Split pipe = start from scratch. Whereas frozen bowl = no big deal.
Wow. No, we are not going anywhere near that cold tonight. Down to about 11F according to the forecast.
We do have snow again on Tuesday and then again Thur-Fri and I already got an inch this morning (on top of the roughly 2' already there), so definitely feeling pummeled on the snow front.

Can you post a picture? I'm not sure about nipple waterers but it may work.

This is the one I have. The red nipples are replaceable. I don't have any trouble with leaks and despite them occasional sitting on top of it, the water is always clean. It's also transparent so I can check the level at a distance.

I like the idea of a circulating pump...we use a heat cable!

This is our nipple waterer. Deana uses it the most.

As you can see, the chicken wire supports it well. It used to be mounted to the outside of the nursery coop with the pipe and nipple sticking through the wire.

I've been thinking of doing this for the Pretties. The tail on Phoenix just knocks the water right over.
