Ribh's D'Coopage

Posted the wrong video earlier. 🙄 Tends to happen when I'm juggling kids these days.

I have watched this video three times - I just love it. Love the tiny feather dusters who move like lightening and the bizarrely chill Vorwerks who seem relieved to have the space to themselves. So wonderful.

I'm rather sorry I went with this design now. I still like it aesthetically but when 20+ birds are vying for a spot on the top it gets more than a little crazy! 🙄 I want the man to change them so it's in a U with everyone @ the same height but I just know there would be an outcry from all my older girls who love the top bar!
They will still have the top bar, or at least as high as any of the others.

Cillin. The Blackthorn is really getting into it's stride.

The height it is now everyone is able to look out the back air vent & in summer I don't close the front either so they have a great outlook which I'm sure makes everyone feel a lot safer. If I move it I will drop the height a lot. I've noticed my bigger, older, heavier birds are sometimes struggling with the height ~ especially Soda during her moult.

I'm so glad I got one then. It is funny how easy it was for me to get a Shad mug and how hard to get a Lavender mug. Exactly the opposite for you. Worlds apart we be.
Well I can’t seem to get a Lavender mug.
I ended up with two Shad mugs! I don’t know how that happened. Guess I better keep trying!:eek::eek:

I try to keep perches no higher than 300mm from the nearest large flat surface.
Basically , I want the perches jump height.

Someone suggested that once before. He was ignored.

What about a U up high? Would that work?
I'm sorry, @BY Bob. That must have been a message I missed.
There were a lot of things I didn't realise when we built the coop. Everyone talks about space & ventilation ~ Oh, & cleaning. I wanted to be able to clean under the roosts easily.. No~one talks about the social aspects so I had no idea I was making a status symbol. Those on the top roost have the most status. I have no idea how Olivia & Titania manage to roost there so often!

Plus I didn't consider the effects of aging & moulting on the hens ability to access all the roosts. I wouldn't build it this way now but @ the time I liked it because it gave heaps of floor space & lots of roosting options. I still like that about it but the drawbacks are quite significant ~ so no, MJ, a high U will not solve my problem. :(
