Ribh's D'Coopage

Yes! Much easier to manage (Tuppence and Ha'penny notwithstanding!) and since my fox visit, i've been giving serious consideration to recruiting a doggo to the menagerie.
Oh gosh! Have you read the dog threads on here? Most Guard suggestions are for really big breeds that are not necessarily people friendly as the smaller breeds haven't been bred to livestock guard & aren't terribly effective against foxes. What were you thinking of getting?

I was thinking about getting a doggo from the RSPCA or somewhere like that. I have a big yard and I'm almost at a strong commitment to proper side fences. So I was thinking of a shepherd-type. One of my chums had a white shepherd and it was a lovely dog. But it would be a matter of what's available at the time - if there's a doggy who understands chickens and whose owner has passed, that would be perfect. I can wait for the right one - I don't need to get one the first time I go looking.

Beautiful morning here today. We've had so much bad weather it's really appreciated!

So beautiful! I don't have any sunset pictures, but I do have a blurry active flock picture!

Yeh mine too! Liquids don't like uphill. So grateful my house is a few meters above sea level. I worry about its long-term capability to hold out against rising sea levels, but it should be fine for a few more human lifetimes.
It's why we sit on top of the hill. The blocks @ sea level not only flood in big tides & bad weather but the salt spray on the windows is a pain.

You are a strong minded woman! If I did that I would lose my heart to a totally inappropriate animal & all sorts of problems would happen.

What a gorgeous flock. I love blues! Never seen blue rocks before. I have 3 Barred Plymouth. My blue is an Australorp bantam, Pebbles. She has delusions of grandeur.

I am a bit strong-minded when it comes to protecting the chickens. I'm a sucker in other ways... choooooocolaaaaate

I'm so thankful that the dog we were "gifted" has been wonderful with the chickens and the cats. She is a Rottweiler and Beagle mix, which one would not expect to be a good mix, but she's more concerned about cleaning up the chicken feed then anything else.

Wow. I would have expected problems with that mix! You are blessed!
