I went to let the girls out this morning & guess what I found?

A bag of egg cartons hanging by the feeder!

Hint, hint?

Really I'm grateful. Heaps easier than lugging a huge bowful of my girls offerings up & down the street. I'll put please return on them & we should be good for a while!

What a change you have made already they are more comfortable. I wish many more broodies on you. They are a sign of your good work.

She's not sitting!
I've spoken to the women who keeps the chickens and she says do what you can. It was her husband who brought the chickens to the allotments and he died a couple of years ago and she's been taking care of them as best she can since.
If and once I've got the run to a decent size and a matenity unit built then we will see.

Do you mean you're not letting her sit or that she's just bokking around making a nuisance of herself?

Henry ambled past me this morning mutering something like "you got this?" and headed for the spot you see him in. He was in the bath for over half an hour. None of the hens joined him, not that there was a lot of room in the hole he dug. The soil was about perfect for rooster bathing. I think I've mentioned that the roosters I've seem bathing don't go for the dust; they like damp composty earth.
I went and pulled weeds with the hens.

I'm not letting any sit. She's been sitting in the laying coop on 4 eggs for a couple of days while the others squeeze in and lay beside her; those that are stilll laying anyway.

Poor girl. Finally, finally she's got good conditions for sitting & that mean Ol' Bucket Boy won't let her!
