That's is worrying but him being uncomfortable even more stressful. I'll settle him outside my bedroom door tonight away from carpet and leave paper down. I'll be up very early to let him out.

His skin is perfectly cleared now no more scabs at all

I don't know if it's true but apparently if you put coconut oil on a tick it kills them. Does anyone know if this is correct?

Anything that will smother a tick & cut off their air supply will kill them. I use Vaseline.

I suppose it could suffocate them. I believe that petroleum jelly works that way.

I've just washed off most of the oil. Now he's really fed up with me

Yes in theory but they deliver their full dose of nastiness in the process.
It is better to pull them out. Carefully so as not to leave their mouthparts in your skin. We have so many here I carry a little plastic tick remover which does an excellent job.
