Ribh's D'Coopage

Ewwww. That is way worse than not being able to reach a few eggs :sick one of the dogs dug the same lamb up like four times last year. It got a nice big stone carin and a cross thanks to the woofer who had to rebuy it again and again! Never a fun task, especially not the second or more time around

I lost a dozen rescue chickens in a short space of time & a local dog kept digging them up ~ over & over! I was getting quite frantic. The kids weren't coping. And we didn't have garbage collection...:sick Our ground is too rocky to dig really deep but @ least it wasn't sheep. Pheew!

Yes, you should totally get rid of them all... The neighbors that is! As soon as you’re able to, because grumpy bylaw bouncing people with nothing better to do than mind other people’s business are not worth hanging around. Barring that I believe a LARGE privacy fence is in order.
Definitely get rid of the neighbours!:thumbsup

Everyday they get a small motivational speech about putting the eggs into the nest boxes and NOT eating them. I think the loaded “icky” eggs were about on par with my speeches for effectiveness!

At present I've got one girl dropping her egg on it's pointy head & cracking the shell ~ not the membrane, thankfully! *sigh* This is what you do, lady. Get it right!

Well, what's the saying?

"Good fences make good neighbours"

I'd hate not to have my six foot fence. Stops my dogs and chooks running away and getting hurt. And I like my privacy! :old

Jeannie, I loved the pics... I'm not sure what type of bird we have around here that hunts at night. Too dark to see them clearly, but it's amazing to watch them catch bugs in mid flight and they're not shy about hunting around my deck lights.

@Bob: We get owls hitting our screens @ night in summer. They come hunting the big moths.

Sorry about the quality of the pics. I was taking them through our dirty windows ~ which I don't clean because then everything hits them, breaks their neck & I have to pick up dead bodies before the cats! If they're left a bit dirty the birds realize there's a barrier there.

Before I had chickens, I never really paid attention to bird behavior, now I seem to notice way more of it.
I always liked birds but I didn't really like handling them. Now I have lap chickens. :lau Apparently. They are not being encouraged.:barnie
