Ribh's D'Coopage

Sooo eggciting!! Thanks! And yours are lovely! What kind of chicken is Deanna? Her egg looks ginormous! And you have a nice variety too!!

Thank you, I've been showing everyone who will listen :D

Deana is a Rhode Island Red, and yes, that egg was gigantic! I was very worried for her.
Luckily her subsequent eggs seem to be just a tad smaller.

Also I've just found another dark brown one from Edwina. This time it was in the nesting box! Hooray!:jumpy

The dark one on the left is Claire’s (Barnevelder).. the dark on the right is Big Mak’s (Cuckoo Marans) ... the green is Kelly.. EE.... hopefully the new flowers (EEs) will lay even more variety :fl... but they have about 10 more weeks to go.. give or take...

From your photo, I thought you must have just about every variety there is!
What other shades are there apart from white, brown, pink , green , blue and speckled?

:thumbsup
We have a cold snap about to hit. Blizzards waaay down south. Still plodding along on toilet & bathroom & now the lad's gone home again leaving us with a hole in our outside wall...:th:idunnoIt's 15/16 outside but the wind's from the west & that's always unpleasant. The cats have come back inside & the girls are all cuddled up in the sunniest spot in the run. :)

We have had some crazy strong gusts of wind here too. But our fence repairs appear to be working and the fence is still upright (so far :fl)
It's supposed to be a max temp of 8C (46F) here today but with the windchill it feels much colder. It was snowing in Katoomba this morning

I have a birdbath on the verandah for a reason. Our chances of seeing who visits is waaay higher. Just now: Blue~faced honey~eaters & Lorikeets.

Nice pics Ribh!

It's lovely having the wild birds visit. The rainbow lorikeets can be such larrikins!

You can get a really dark brown, chocolate brown colour ~ Marans, Barnvelders & I think Welsummers [sp?].

I've got most shades of brown going from yellowish to a dark brown but not the really dark brown. The Favorelle X lay the darkest brown I get. @Kris has Marans.

Lots of kindling coming down for the fire...:D

@Kris5902 tried the *hot* eggs. Apparently her girls loved them. :(

:hugs Answer ~ enclose the whole yard. :gig Some people are just mean.:hugs
And mustard! I filled them with mustard too... and the little devils just lapped it right up! The roll away nest box has been the only thing to work for me, and still they sometimes manage to rest them. :th Naughty chickens! Everyday they get a small motivational speech about putting the eggs into the nest boxes and NOT eating them. I think the loaded “icky” eggs were about on par with my speeches for effectiveness!

Gosh you two!!! The stress...:th:caf

:barnie I had a disinterment yesterday....:sick Chickens are disgusting. Then she wanted to love on me later. ICK!

Ewwww. That is way worse than not being able to reach a few eggs :sick one of the dogs dug the same lamb up like four times last year. It got a nice big stone carin and a cross thanks to the woofer who had to rebuy it again and again! Never a fun task, especially not the second or more time around

I swear it's always something.

My layer flock is eating every single gosh darn egg that is laid!! I'm ready to lose my mind! I'm going to start with giving them a higher protein feed. They are currently getting layer feed.

I'm also making roll a-way nest boxes. Plus I'll put a few golf balls and "loaded" eggs with mustard.

My neighbor called the boro not even 10 minutes after I let my flock out yesterday, so I can no longer let my chickens run in my yard. They all have to be enclosed. I'm so angry and defeated. I feel like I could just get rid of them all and not even care.

Yes, you should totally get rid of them all... The neighbors that is! As soon as you’re able to, because grumpy bylaw bouncing people with nothing better to do than mind other people’s business are not worth hanging around. Barring that I believe a LARGE privacy fence is in order.
