Ribh's D'Coopage

Sorry I've been gone all week, but home visits were brutal and I'm still not done
When I was homeschooling we were on the other side of home visits. Thankfully we had a most wonderful supervisor who had to deal with YD & her math & YD defeated her. She simply smiled & said: My, you do have different learners, don't you? Yes we do!

I hope you get the cool weather you need soon.

I'm in Melbourne at the moment and the weather is surprisingly delightful

Any time I've been to Melbourne the weather has been absolutely ghastly. So, yeah... not a fan... :(

More pictures! They are just lovely.

Thank you.

I’m glad you made it through the gathering ok!

Me too!:lau

Okay, first off... it’s WINTER  are you nuts!?

Not entirely. I have been known to wear socks with my thongs. Occasionally I revert to Ugh Boots...

Btw, you have the feet of a young girl

Gosh that's a good camera!!! :gig

Look at little Lottie... her feather pattern is beautiful! Looks like I may be joining the fan club :D

And she's my wyandotte...;) Such a sweetie.

:lau:gigYou should meet my son. We've been getting the NBN [National Broadcasting Network] scammers constantly. So my son rings me up, puts on a fake Indian accent & proceeds to try & wind me up. Once, yes, the 2nd time I was wise to him!:lau
Love it! So fun :gig
And hey.. doesn’t it look just like an egg..? Coffee flavored... mmmmm, mmmmmm :drool

Special treat today was a pile of fresh leaf litter & all those broken eggs scrambled to make a beggar's delight. They were good nearly all day. Only 1 Campine escapee just before lock down ~ & she didn't even try to escape when I went to put her back where she belongs. I think she was just letting me know it was dinner time. A day with just the coop run really makes them appreciate the joys of the larger run.

I have survived the extroverts! :lau Very late home so still very tired but BYC has a lot to answer for.;) We [as in my mum, YD & I] won the baby animals game because I read all over the place here & knew what a baby pigeon & a baby turkey were called. :lau Just the same, it was a relief to get home. I checked on the girls though they were already roosting & John said they started calling to him to let them out any time he stuck his head outside. And he forgot to collect the eggs. 7 beauties laying in the nesting boxes waiting to be collected. The cats were relieved to see me though @ least my man had remembered to bring them inside before dark & feed them. Not that I think Marlow would have let him forget.

Extra time & some treats for all my boys & girls today so I hope it's a nice day as I look like spending most of it outside today. Still too dark to tell properly here.

Glad you survived! And won the game too! :gig

Not the nicest of mornings.
Bit cool & overcast but I was out early to check on the girls as the man didn't put out feed last night.

I wasn't overly concerned as I knew there was still feed in the treadle feeder & if rations were a bit short they'd be ok until I could top everyone up this morning.

Lottie getting her special rations ~ & yes, I'm still in my PJs.

The girls chowing down. Water next ~ but I really do need to be dressed for that.

The 2nd feeder is usually more popular but the Campines were looking for their hand feeding.

Pebbles & Suyin sharing the water.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who races out to the chooks in my pajamas first thing in the morning!

yesterday's funny ~ because it is:
This is my everyday footwear. I think they call these thongs Surfer Joe's or some such. They are extra wide [I have very wide feet], extra thick soled & have coloured cloth straps. I wear them to do the chickens, to hike, to shop, to the ballet & music concerts. I rarely wear anything else because, quite frankly, I hate shoes. This is my compromise to going totally barefooted ~& in Oz, especially Queensland, you won't raise an eyebrow if you wear these anywhere.

Unless you wear them to a baby shower full of AngloIndians. I walked in & everyone's eyes immediately went to my feet. For a moment I thought I must be tracking chicken poop; wouldn't be the first time ~ but nope. Apparently what I wear on my feet isn't acceptable. Oops!:gig

You do you. No-ones business but yours  I wear my disreputable faux-wool lined crocs outside in winter and thongs in summer. Gotta do what works so we don't track poop inside!

I totally agree! One of my phrases I would use at work was “I’m not peopling today...” and most of my co-workers understood it. Sometimes it can just be too much. I’m glad you made it through the gathering ok!

I tend to say "I'm not feeling social" and send myself to my room. :th
I like your phrase better Kris.:love

Oh, I love that you also have the Aussie 10 cent piece and the American quarter for size reference! Lol, we need to find the equivalent Euro coin too now ;)

I have a little pouch of American coins in my desk drawer so if I see something on-line with a coin for reference, I can whip out the relevant coin. Now I want to go get some Euros too, great idea Kris! !

Took the photos down at the farm so I was missing the Aussie coin for reference. Lol. smallest egg yet!

Such a cute egg! Boil it and save it for a bento box lunch!

My Darling hubby was walking past as I was looking at Lottie's photo and said what a beautiful chook she is. Now I know what I'm getting next! ;)

Just joking .... that’s an M&M :lau
I was planning this today and then @Kris5902 posted her tiny egg so she set me up :gig.... Kris has the Guinness record egg I do believe... :bow

You had me there @WhoDatChick . I believe whatever people tell me and take everything literally. Glad you came clean!:jumpy

She is a bantam, :D, not a standard, but standards are really pretty too. Wyandottes have a lovely shape & beautiful patterning. I've been told she's a partirdge but honestly, I wouldn't know. I bought her 'cause she's pretty.:idunnoShe gets special treatment because she is tiny compared to my standards but be warned; Wyandottes are a dominant breed & you can get some real stinkers. Ask @WhoDatChick . :(

Evening folks :frow

My Holland girls gave me a fart egg the other day, I don't have a pic, but it fits nicely on a dime.

The 3 week old chicks moved to grass yesterday, they were really confused but quickly decided it was okay.

Loved all the pics, Jeannie your girls are definitely eye candy and your sunrises are stunning. These are much, but the moon early morning, trying to capture the glow around it from the fog and the sunrise just a few minutes later.
