Ribh's D'Coopage

Haha! I got the same reaction from an English man in Australia last summer, but he exercised his privilege and actually verbalised his disapproval! I told him thongs are easy to kick off which saves poop coming into the house. He went very pale indeed, poor fella.
Even when I try I always seem to look like something the cat dragged in backwards but then my very stylish mother & fashionista daughter rock up! :lau It's quite a contrast!

Hi everyone :frow Sorry I've been gone all week, but home visits were brutal and I'm still not done, plus training again next week with the last of the home visits.

Hope all is well and the weather is being nice and the animals are doing well. If the weather ever cools down during the day maybe we can get the grass cut and we won't have a jungle anymore.

Not the nicest of mornings.
Bit cool & overcast but I was out early to check on the girls as the man didn't put out feed last night.

I wasn't overly concerned as I knew there was still feed in the treadle feeder & if rations were a bit short they'd be ok until I could top everyone up this morning.

Lottie getting her special rations ~ & yes, I'm still in my PJs.

The girls chowing down. Water next ~ but I really do need to be dressed for that.

The 2nd feeder is usually more popular but the Campines were looking for their hand feeding.

This fits in well here...:lau:lau

^^^ love this!

As I constantly have to explain to my extroverted friends, introversion is not a dislike of people; it is how you gain your energy. People deplete my energy ~ fast. :D Alone time gives me energy. I can only people for so long before I'm exhausted & crotchety. lol I'm much nicer when I've had plenty of time with just me, the chooks, the cats, good coffee & lovely sunrises! :)

I totally agree! One of my phrases I would use at work was “I’m not peopling today...” and most of my co-workers understood it. Sometimes it can just be too much. I’m glad you made it through the gathering ok!

My 3.5 year old hens lay much larger eggs than my 5.5 month old girls who are just coming on to lay.

I really think it's often a question of age and practice.
I remember Tsuki and Deana laid tiny eggs about that size when they first started laying

Oh, I love that you also have the Aussie 10 cent piece and the American quarter for size reference! Lol, we need to find the equivalent Euro coin too now ;)

So if you’re worried about small eggs @WhoDatChick ... this was from the old girls at the farm. I suppose they heard about my meat girls mini eggs and didn’t want to be outdone, normally they lay extra extra large, I think this is somewhat stress related though, as they have been moved to a ramshackle outside enclosure.

Took the photos down at the farm so I was missing the Aussie coin for reference. Lol. smallest egg yet!

Been busy with my hatch, so I’m a little behind on posts. I’m ok with the hatch results so far, but have had some hiccups. I lost two today while I was at the market, both Chickie Hawks babies. And have a 50% hatch rate on Wayne’s eggs (12 chicks), which is a little disappointing. Some humidity problems with the ambient weather and all the chicks popping out it was at 88-89% this morning in the incubator :hmm almost through the thick of it now though!

yesterday's funny ~ because it is:
This is my everyday footwear. I think they call these thongs Surfer Joe's or some such. They are extra wide [I have very wide feet], extra thick soled & have coloured cloth straps. I wear them to do the chickens, to hike, to shop, to the ballet & music concerts. I rarely wear anything else because, quite frankly, I hate shoes. This is my compromise to going totally barefooted ~& in Oz, especially Queensland, you won't raise an eyebrow if you wear these anywhere.

Unless you wear them to a baby shower full of AngloIndians. I walked in & everyone's eyes immediately went to my feet. For a moment I thought I must be tracking chicken poop; wouldn't be the first time ~ but nope. Apparently what I wear on my feet isn't acceptable. Oops!:gig
Okay, first off... it’s WINTER  are you nuts!? My toes would fall off!!!!! I wear socks in the summer even!! Second... we use to wear those exact thongs when I was a kid in the seventies!!!!!! I am so jealous!! I had some yellow ones! :love... wait till I show the girl! I was just telling her about those!
Btw, you have the feet of a young girl

Just joking .... that’s an M&M :lau
I was planning this today and then @Kris5902 posted her tiny egg so she set me up :gig.... Kris has the Guinness record egg I do believe... :bow
:lau:gigYou should meet my son. We've been getting the NBN [National Broadcasting Network] scammers constantly. So my son rings me up, puts on a fake Indian accent & proceeds to try & wind me up. Once, yes, the 2nd time I was wise to him!:lau
