Ribh's D'Coopage

They seem like nice dogs. Do you like them?
They are nice dogs but I know why I've never kept dogs. Compared to cats they are incredibly needy. They eat the kitty litter - & what's in the kitty litter!🤮 They follow the chooks round & clean up their poop as they drop it- then they want to lick me!!!🤢 They bark @ everything & give me a headache. They're constantly underfoot. The schnauzer is young & trainable & not too bad given I've no idea what I'm doing training wise. The Maltese X is old & thinks being cute is all he needs🙄 so, yeah, not a huge fan. We rub along ok but give me a cat or a chicken any day!

CATURDAY.
It's a hard life...

Happy Caturday everyone.
Here is Nightshade in a trance suckling his blanket. He is what is known as a ‘wool suckler’ which apparently often happens when a kitten loses its mother before being properly weaned.
He latches on and suckles like a baby.
I find that very sad.
The vet told me to make sure he had access to fleece because the problem with sucking on wool is that little bits come off and can block the intestines - the fleece stays intact.
This is his favorite fleece because it is on my bed. He sometimes almost chokes himself getting the purr out loudly enough and that snaps him out of the trance for a minute!View attachment 3685938

I don't know a lot about cats and I always had this notion that three months was the earliest age to get kitties. That was the age of ours when we got then.
Recently I was invited at a social event with people from the village and the woman had a one month old kitten. Apparently it's not at all unusual here. Many people raise their cats as barn cats so they have difficulty catching them. They think they must catch and give the kittens as soon as possible before they run away 😔.
The baby kitten was actually very funny and at ease with us. It kept chasing a huge dog that was terrified of it !

Grochatila is convinced our manure pile is his sun lounge.

The little girls were put out to grass this afternoon.
This side of the yard is very pleasant once the sun has moved on- especially just now when our temps are @ heatwave levels.

Portia was the first to investigate.

Lots of curiosity, no aggression. Love my tribe!💗

My cats are all rescues so I don’t know their origins or history. They probably had a hard start in life but now are completely spoiled!
