Ribh's D'Coopage

hehe i can't claim any special skills, but I do read try to pick the breed before reading the label. I get it right maybe half the time.
At least here we have 1/2 a chance ~ unlike unnamed places where everything has been interbred till it all looks like something else & you don't stand a chance!

I will not look at the “for Sale” chickens!
I will not look at the “for Sale” chickens!
I will not look at the “for Sale” chickens!
I will not attempt to buy a calf or llama,
I will not attempt to buy a calf or llama,
I will not attempt to buy a calf or llama,

And I will be especially careful around any “for Sale” Roosters :he:he:he
Granted if anyone is trying to re-home 20-40 hens, I might be in the market for that... if I follow the 10-12 hens per Rooster suggestion I would need 80+ hens :barnie it’s a good thing my three bachelors are mostly peaceable together, Sammy seems happy with his 3-4 lady friends, and I’ve got Chickie Hawk’s daughters growing up (I still don’t have an accurate count on those girls)

Need to buy car parts... but want to buy chickens...

Lunch eggs from a few days ago...View attachment 1894703

The little yolk is from the meat bird eggs, the one with it from a sapphire, and the top one is from a hybrid red layer

And last nights sunset... we were down at the Farm for Andrews cousin’s birthday party. The picture doesn’t quite do justice to the way the sun was streaming through the clouds, it looked just amazing.

What a beautiful pic!

Are you quite sure you don't want a llama? I hear they are good guardian beasts. They may run off those raccoons you've been worried about ;)
They spit. Like camels. :( OD used to work on an alpaca farm. They also had llamas.
OOh, I didn't notice the blue moon until you pointed it out Ribh!:clap

Isn't it terrific!

Caught up :th

We were at our camp yesterday and today... it’s been awhile since we’ve gotten to go... I took some pics.. they are not great as I was taking them on a moving boat with my tablet and some into the sun ...

and heading back to camp..

I didn’t really get many good photos of chickens today... I was too busy ogling them, and the cows... the llamas were a little standoffish. Best in Show went to a white Chantelacer for large fowl and a modern game bantam that was one of the tiniest chicks I’ve ever seen. It was smaller than the quail! I did get a pic of it’s sibling though, those are like 1” gaps in the show cage!

It was a long hot day, but really fun. Especially watching the steers and cow calf pairs being shown and judged. Now I really want to halter train my little cows!

Several of the llamas actually looked like they wanted to bite... so it wasn’t too hard to resist them. The Farm had one once, during the year that the “pet” wolf escaped. They do make great flock guards, she even “guarded” the ewes from the attentions of the rams, and there were very few lambs that year!

I will say I was a bit tempted by a breeding pair of pheasants. The male was so colorful, but at $100 they seemed a little rich for my blood. I guess I’ll just have to keep Chickie Hawk and his friends around for visual “yard candy”
