Ribh's D'Coopage

Yes, we fared well! Thanks! I don’t think too bad in the rest of my area either... a few power lines down and some trees around.. but not near me.. That’s the second bad weather system that skated right by us so we missed out on all the bad... Praise God!
Happy for you. Spectacular as a good storm may be no one needs the devastation they often bring.

This is Pebbles. Pebbles is a nut job. It's hard to believe she's only been here a couple of weeks. She's firmly entrenched herself with the big girls & has been itching to get out in the bigger run with them. I have been keeping a tight rein on her but she is laying so entitled to waaay more status than any of the other new girls! Today she managed to slip past me when I called the big girls out. Everyone else was watching events from the coop because there are quite a few with designs on escaping the run. *sigh* I've flyers this time & have never clipped wings [something I was hoping to avoid indefinitely] so am not encouraging them. I watched Pebbles for a bit. The hens can get under the wire or over it ~ but my lazy lot don't normally bother unless there's something special they're after ~ or if they can't access the nesting box of choice! She followed her elders lead & just foraged around but it has been cold & showery all day & after an hour everyone wanted back in the big run with the food & the rest of the flock, who were not impressed. Everyone just needs to get over themselves here!

Pebbles is so gorgeous, she doesn’t look like there’s a humble feather on her!
Glad everyone made it through the weather ok. I woke up to thick fog this morning, and a ruckus of hooves and scratching on the trailer, which rocks it pretty well. On the list for today is fixing one of the fences ASAP so I can get these mischievous bovines out of my yard... and dropping off some plumbing bits at one of the cabins that’s being fixed up, and hopefully getting Sammy, Puffy and Bossy into a tractor. I’m about ready to start cutting the heat on the meat chicks throughout the day.

Haha, I like how she decided those other big chooks are her people and that's that.

While we're showing pucs, I managed to get one of Sandy in an amusing and all to familiar posture! She'd just been gobbling up some tomato that went soft in the fridge.

Has anyone noticed which eggs are suited to which cookery? I think Barnevelder eggs make the best scrambled eggs and I like to pan fry the Australorp eggs.

Do you have preferences too?
Oh, that’s interesting... I’ve never noticed... I know which egg belongs to who but I’ve always just mixed them together for cooking. When I fry my eggs I always choose the largest ones ;).. I like the big yolk for dipping.. Saturday and Sunday are my fried egg mornings... so can’t wait till tomorrow morn :D.. fried eggs are my favorite brekkie :ya

lol I usually keep Hepzibah's eggs for us. They are a lovely shape, very smooth & a pale pinky/buff but I usually use them for baking as they are medium large: floating islands, sweet omelets, frittatas.
