That is wild! He was a big fan of the chickens, huh? Or was is just eggs? It's funny the things that you find out when you're paying attention. Every creature has their own personality. A ram that didn't want to break an egg...I think I'll keep that mental picture forever

I have a goat that sounds a bit like him. If you don't pay him in "pets" he will put his head down and give you a whack. He's never knocked me down luckily. but he's given me some bruises. I swear he outweighs me...should put him on the scale one of these days.

I think it was just something about the eggs, although he was fine with the chickens.

We're booked on the 8am barge Friday. Hour trip then nearly another hour to the hatchery. They open @ 10am. I've got quite a bit to organise before then. Hour back to the barge @ 1pm & another hour before we're back on the island. It will be a big day & my girls will be super pissed as they loathe this weather & have been choosing to spend most of their time in the coop staring out @ the bucketing rain. If tomorrow is fine & they find themselves confined....

So if I looked for news late Friday, that would be about right?

Oh, I'm super excited for Bob. He has quite the mix but I believe he's up for the challenge & I know the BR is a super lovely bird! So happy he got Sydney.

Yours I'm thrilled to watch grow up & gain confidence. Such pretty girls.

I can't keep every breed so I enjoy doing it vicariously through everyone else's flocks.

How far away is a habitable house Kris? I'm impressed that you've coped so far.

Going to have an update on it over on my thread very soon, first floor decking is done, came home yesterday to FIL and BIL attempting to move wall panels with the tractor. After our firewood trip, DH was so frustrated by the small amount of wood the we absolutely had to take the truck up the mountain to get he picked up beer, which was very good considering the how not to use a tractor mess we came back to.

I really don’t know how long it will take us to get the walls up. I’m hoping FIL goes on vacation to Cuba for a long time very soon, and we can maybe arrange a work bee/“please help us be not homeless next winter” party for erecting the walls in his absence. Waterproofing stuff (tar?) for the foundations is coming home with DH today I think. I don’t think the RV is going to make it through another winter. The situation is complicated by most people here refusing to work with FIL and very nearly us over some of BIL’s recent misdoings. DH and I are trying to distance ourselves from being associated with the rest of his family. Some people in the community are gradually warming up to us again. Freaking Family Drama makes me want to become a hermit!

Glad to be back as well! It was kind of fun talking with people face to face again, but I missed all the chicken updates and everyone here even more.

Sadly this is quite fun to read but I totally get it is no fun to live! Appreciate you sharing the journey.
