Ribh's D'Coopage

This is the Campines when I let the other girls out into the big yard. Definitely not happy bunnies. We have roaming dogs so escaped chick~a~bes are not on.

Meanwhile this is where most of the other girls decided to camp out.

Go figure. It's wire underfoot & on a tilt because we were going to scrap it. I'm going to see if I can tug it along onto flatter ground & will clean & mulch it so it is more user friendly seeing as everyone still likes it. Soda will lay in there still though Hepzibah waits until I open the gate into the other pen for her.

I spend a bit of time each day just moving the girls between pens. It is mixing things up: different combinations of birds @ different times, different surrounds, stopping boredom but it adds up & it was only when DH joined me to watch the girls I realised how much everyone has grown. He doesn't see them every day & was shocked @ how big the Favorelles are becoming.:lau

As an island there are still places we can go to scrounge some free sandy soil, clay or mulch ~ in this case she oak needle mulch. The Campines really like to scavenge so I dumped a pile in ~ & it got totally ignored. I know there are bugs & beetles & things in there! Lottie climbed in the hole Pebbles made & practically went comatose in her dust bath, Suyin & Ha'penny decided to share & Tuppence stood watch on a log. Meanwhile all the bigger girls are eyeing the pile off with interest...:idunno

IMG20190501162236_6.jpg Yep, my addiction to your chooks' shenanigans is coming along nicely :gig

At my place I've discovered that having a mutual enemy has bonded the old girls. They're sharing everything whereas before Sandy, it was basically a scrum.

And Sandy has found a safe space where the old girls can't bother her: the huge old nest box that the other two gave up on before Christmas. She's standing in it this minute, sorting out her plumage, while the other two eat some bread scraps, in bff mode.

lol My hat is off to you! I've refused to even consider a RIR . They are a handful! I have enough trouble with my BAs & BRs ~ & they're considered *docile* breeds. lol:lau
