I really like Rocks. They are great birds! And Millie is a lovely name! Did you guys put down an apron or wire the floor of your run so the foxes can't dig under?

Well, she's a barnevelder but not a good one. Her legs aren't yellow and her eggs aren't brown. But I'm not fussy - my main selection criteria is "cuuuuuute"

Thanks! I think so too... she is my prettiest chook.. but Lilly, my light Brahma may be shaking things up a bit! I am also surprised at how large Claire is.. she is really big! And she has the loveliest shape..

Fox are very clever and can find any weakness in coop or run. Plus they have infinite patience to wait for any breach in routine.

I had a setback today and now have another rehab girl I’m trying to make comfortable. She may drop and injure the occasional chicken, but overall my child labor is the most reliable chicken tender here.

I put my eggs into lockdown, the incubator always looks so much more crowded when they are removed from the turner.

Here’s hoping for some girls! The 7 Marans eggs, 10 Columbia Rock X Chickie Hawk, and 23 from him and the hy-line production reds. Will keep you posted on the progress!

They are an alpha predator ~ with good reason.

She may drop and injure the occasional chicken, but overall my child labor is the most reliable chicken tender here.

She is learning good chicken husbandry from you & hopefully the next generation will be much more respnsible!

Better safe than sorry. I am yet to secure my extended run & there was a low flying hawk today so I will be changing our routine.
