Ribh's D'Coopage

You've won me! I don't like snow & Christmas is generally salads & seafood round here. My boys arrive by boat with the things still jumping. :(
Here's some pics of the Cumberland River, the Marina and the lake from up top. Sorry for the trees. They are prolific. These were from Feb 2017. Can't find anything more current. 2017-02-12_14-54-45_957.jpeg 2017-02-12_14-54-50_900.jpeg 2017-02-12_14-54-59_879.jpeg 2017-02-12_14-55-17_530.jpeg 2017-02-12_14-55-25_845.jpeg 2017-02-12_14-55-27_477.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-17-37_044.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-17-55_919.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-17-58_980.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-27-42_921.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-27-51_287.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-29-35_231.jpeg 2017-02-12_15-32-27_690.jpeg

You live in a very beautiful spot @rjohns39
V chilly here too @Ribh it was 0 overnight but it was 5.1 a minute ago. I lit the fire last night, it was delightful. Not much news to share, except I hurt my back when I was cleaning the floors yesterday. Nothing serious, it's ok now. The clean house is worth it. The chickens were very relaxed out in the yard all weekend. Mr Whiskers went home and I was shown some lovely pictures of Mount Bogong under snow. My friend didn't summit because he forgot his gloves! Not sure how he managed that, he's usually so well-prepared. Still, he got closer than last winter when the snow was deep.
Glad your back is better. My poor boy! :D He will be feeling the cold.

I actually tucked Namaste, Soda & Nugget in the old coop last night. I am very worried about Namaste & I thought she would be warmer. Upping the protein but I caught Nugget feather picking her yesterday so that will not be helping things. Roll on warmer weather!

Are you on an island as well? That is lovely but gosh, it looks cold!

So little undergrowth though! I'm not used to seeing trees so close together.

It's a worry when the chooks don't pick up when moulting. My girls love mushed sardines in their rolled oats and hot water "porridge" on a frosty morning.
I hope Namaste picks up soon :fl

Thank you!:hugs She's been molting since the start of Autumn & really is in a bad way. I've checked for lice, mites & worms so, so far as I can tell, it is all down to molting. She is thin & feeling the cold, poor girl but enjoying the sunshine this morning. Now, so long as she doesn't get sunburn...

She Oaks will do that. The needles curb the undergrowth & they do grow close together. Heaps on the point when we moved here. I'd never seen anything quite like it before either.:)

Surely more protein and fewer chooks to share it with is a good idea.
lol Funny you should say that! I went to put the girls in last night & noticed Namaste wasn't eating & she wasn't interested when I picked her up & offered her food. Her crop felt pretty empty so I went inside for some tuna & corn just for her. Well! It was on. Everyone was scrambling to get in my lap! Suyin was frantic to get her head in that teacup! Even Ha'penny perched on my arm so she could grab something. I let Namaste stuff herself then shared the leftovers round but that's when I decided she could do with a little less *ventilation* for the night & somewhere pretty cosy. I left Hepzibah with the others as she's become top chook & put the other 3 whose 1st home was the old pen in together with some extra mulch. I had to put Namaste up on the roost but not sure if she stayed there. She was 2nd out the door this morning. Nugget is almost always last chook up.
