Ribh's D'Coopage

Awww poor lil girl can't stretch her chicken brain all the way to "out of bounds". Are you getting plenty of eggs ribh? I'm getting 1 a day from 2 laying chickens. I'm beginning to think Mary is a pensioner now. She's fully feathered but not producing eggs. In October she was sold to me in a very poor state as a "pullet" but her claws were very long and I've always suspected she was a much older chook.

Mary may still just be on her winter holiday. Even if she is an older girl she should still lay, though not as often. I'm getting 6~9 eggs a day just now but most of these girls were bought @ POL in autumn & the BRS continue to lay throughout winter. I have 2 bantams. whom I wasn't really expecting too many eggs from, & they are laying great guns their first season. But Ha'penny...!!! Oh. My. That chookie! She lays 4~5 eggs a week; beautiful size & shape but the fuss!!!

I hope she has a few more eggs yet to come. I've read and been told chickens lay to an old age but not frequently. Just starting to wonder when (or whether) I might see another white egg.

6-9 is awesome! If I hadn't taken Sandy on, I'd be getting 4 a week and supplementing from the shop.
As your weather warms up she should come back on the lay. Yeah, I have more eggs than I need but I am supplementing all my neighbours!

There. Campines are on the list for 2029! Hahaha I'm so funny planning a decade ahead! :gig
