They did but it is super weird. No~one is stressed by the others. Everyone is so super calm I'm thinking I could have thrown them all together from the get go & there would have been no issues. All the newbies sunbathed @ some point. My biggest issue is the pecking order amongst the newbies.

That never helps but it's only the Campines. Morrigu has it in for the other 2! I considered putting her in with the old girls on her own {{{shudder}}} but it was all cruisy during the middle of the day so I'm thinking resources. I put out a 2nd feeder to be sure.

No. There are 700 different species of eucalypt. White barks, ghost gums, wallangarras, & a host of others all have white bark but the River Red gum & the Sydney Red gum, as the name suggests, have beautiful red bark. Scribbly gums are white with dark *scribbles*. There is also a rainbow eucalyptus ~ & yep, they have rainbow bark! Ironbarks are technically an eucalypt too, with thick rough, dark furrowed bark.

MJ: I have decided on names, having spent a good part of this morning watching & listening & with some idea of temperament now.
Campines: from oldest down~ Morrigu [great queen], Mebh [intoxicating] , Aife [beauty] They were all queens of Ireland.
Wyandottes are named for the Picts who were little & hidden [supposedly]: Wrold & Alpia
The Araucanas have Scottish names: Beatha [life] Mhari [loved]

Now the Gaelic speakers can all be cross @ me & everyone else can ask how to pronounce them! And yes, there have been name changes. They may change again before we are done but for now....

I like the names.

I finally got some half decent shots of the new girls.
Which means they are starting to relax around me.

Wrold is even resting right against the wire where I am.
Alpia wasn't far behind.

I don’t acknowledge Valentine’s Day; to me it’s a bunch of commercial nonsense and anyway, I don’t have a romantic bone in my body. That said, if someone gifted me seven chickens on 14th February, I wouldn’t say no.

I don't do Valentines day either. I've got a romantic bone or two, but they don't stretch to all that vomit inducing commercial crap.

Pìobaireachd is pronounced ‘pibroch’ (or ‘peebrock’ if you want to get really Anglo! ) My son’s name is Gaelic and my hubby insists it’s Scottish Gaelic instead of Irish Gaelic, and both sets of grandparents insisted on pronouncing it the Anglo version, until we put a stop to that!

Much as I hate to interupt the Nationalism with a fact, Scottish are Irish. It's movement of the Irish to Scotland that brought about the clans, kilts (I've got one somewhere) etc.

A fact of history I did know but when we are talking language there are quite some differences & I've decided Gaelic is hard. I've tried a couple of times but my ear isn't that good & I do find the nuances difficult.

And a good part of my family originates from what are believed to be the Pictish stomping grounds. Most are Highlanders & my GGM was a Skye woman ~ which I find slightly disturbing...

I don't have a kilt but I do have a length of the family tartan @ my mother's. I don't really know what to do with it. I'd never wear a kilt.
