Ribh's D'Coopage

A bit of cooked pork and cracked corn as @Ribh mentions would be a good choice for a few days. What the corn provides is easy burn carbohydrates and that provides calories to help keep her warm.
The pork will provide a complete protein but even more important, it is apparently easier to digest than a complete protein provided by mixed grains.

There you go, @Aussie-Chookmum, Shad's provided the science!

Will sardines do any good? I don't have cracked corn or pork at the moment but I will keep it in mind. Thank you both for your advice.

We did a shopping trip today and although I didn't find cracked corn, I found live crickets!
The girls had a very exciting time chasing them around the run.

Except Alice.

Alice ran away :idunno

Before I adopted chickens I had no idea about moulting or how feathers grow back. I'm finding it a fascinating and worrying process.

Alice's feathers are coming in apace. She looked even more like a porcupine today. It looks painful too. 🥺

On a sadder note, I'm going to ask for prayers and support for one of our BYC Mods. @sumi is a good friend and a major force behind BYC. She's battling Brain Cancer and could use all the prayers we can give. Here's the thread where we've been keeping track of her. It might be good to read the first post and then the last post made by @TwoCrows. Reading the whole thread would be quite the undertaking, but is still a good read. I'm worried about her and I do believe in the power of prayer.
Oh, sad news. :hugs I will keep her in my thoughts :fl

Thst is part of the problem. I have over 30 years experience in a specialized field. No one else comes close. But I am only one person. I am holding the pieces together right now. Most people are just doing what they have always done, except from home. All the extra stuff that needs to be done to keep things going now has fallen to me.

I had been balancing pretty well but 17 new projects fell on me on Thursday. While I was on 6 straight hours of conference calls where I advanced none of my existing projects.

The problem is that all things I warned needed fixed or we would be in trouble come crisis time, now need fixed since it is crisis time. Since I was the one that pointed them out over the years, they now expect that I have the all answers and so they are all now my problems.

I'm sorry to dump this on your thread @Ribh but it feels better to have vented. In forgiveness, I offer this photo of Miss Patsy.

That sounds so exasperating and stressful Bob! :barnie :hugs

I hope your boss can help sort it out with you. In the mean time I recommend chicken therapy 🐥🐓🥰

That's a beautiful shot of Patsy. 💕

Well, on the plus side, if you look closely at the ends of some of the quills they look like they are about to burst into feather. Hopefully she won't be cold much longer.

The other hens are moulting too but you can't tell by looking at them. Only by looking at the different coloured feathers in the coop and run. I don't know why Alice is copping it so hard this time.

I often recommend fatty fish like salmon or mackerel, but sardines will work in a pinch. loaded with protein and lots of other good stuff.

Chicken therapy has kept me going. Problem was I haven't even been able to make time for that the last few days.
