Ribh's D'Coopage

Someone was talking about spurs getting knocked off, maybe @Kris5902
This is Notch who managed to knock both his off.

Yep that was me... but over in @BY Bob@s thread... my rooster with the double spurs managed to break one. Not to mention the mess he made of his beak! I’m hoping it will regrow/repair/harden up (the beak, granted he does look a little off with the non matching legs and three spurs!

Shad has a forthright, make-no-bones-about-it way of expressing himself that seems very Scottish to me...😁
Am I really that blunt?
I do try not to offend but the cultural differences between certain parts of the USA and my Scottish attitude exacerbated by the Catalonian very blunt style of speech, means as soon as I open my mouth I've upset someone here on BYC it seems. My sense of humour seems to cause some outrage as well.
The Catalans are even less tactful and polite than the Scotts!

Shad, I’m a total mutt... Scottish, French, English, Italian, Lithuanian, Polish... and some of the Scottish line was in Australia and New Zealand! (McIntosh/McKenzie)
I didn't know much about my ancestors until comparatively recently. I knew we were mainly Scottish.

I think we're all mutts when it comes down to it. Our family names don't even sound distinctly Scottish [though they are] & we are clan Gordon, which is not noticeably Scottish either. Etymologically it is interesting as one translation would be *daughter of Col* ~ which might support our supposed Pictish ties but it is all very murky & the further back you go the murkier it gets! :D
The Picts have always been murky.:D

Yep. Seafarers, farmers & crofters for generations ~ that is still pretty much how I choose to live my life; a little of this, a little of that & a bit of something else pays the bills & makes my world go round. Education is a luxury & it benefits no~one if you can't live your life & tie your own shoelaces! :lau
Crofters until the industrial revolution with our family. Mill and textiles after that it seems. Bunch of peasants.

Ah, sorry about the thread change. I think I'm doing well just keeping up with the topics, never mind which thread they were posted on.:p
I just thought I would show that after a couple of years Notch's spurs haven't grown back. If they get knock off very close to the leg then that's them gone. The amount of blood that he sprayed around was concerning and took a lot of washing to get off the walls!

My Greatgrandfather was a head game keeper. Died of a ferret bite. His wife, as so many Skye teens did, came to the mainland to go into service. I don't know much more than that because all Poppy would ever say about Scotland was: Cold & wet.:lau It actually wasn't when I was there. He did give me the little song they used to sing as they passed the farms on the way to school & most of the farm names can still be found on maps [despite my dubious spelling] but he was rather put out when he finally returned in his 90's that all his old school mates were in the local churchyard 6 feet under & pretty much nothing had changed.

Good evening folks :frow Sue has been transferred to rehab.

You too. I have been wondering, if you don't mind. Are you still working a full day? I know you work all different time zones at different times. I did while Rose was in the hospital as I had no PTO left after the wedding and honeymoon.
I'm working 7-9 and doing cleanup at 5 when I get home, if I feel like it. Haven't for several days, just tired. Yesterday was even more special... I spent about 30 minutes on I-40 blind as a bat due to rain. 30mph and just followed the flashing lights of the truck in front of me. Rain was so hard, I couldn't see the lines on the road or the truck in front of me. Lots of standing water on the road and huge wind gusts. More than once, I hydroplaned into a different lane. Oh and for added joy, there was no take out food available when I got off the highway because they lost power. Thankfully, my company sent me a meat and cheese basket and that became dinner. I haven't been able to bring myself to cook since this all began.
