Good morning BobGood I'm excited you are getting the walk. Are you using just the cane now?
I know it isn't funny and it is stressing you out - but your description is so vivid I laughed out loud. I literally cannot imagine how I would handle that! Goodluck!!!!When the tyre hits the Gravel & Everything flies Apart.
I took Medh to the vet.
The vet gave us medications: a liquid to be syringed & a packet of horse tablets.
Easier than medicating a cat, she assured me demonstrating tossing a horse tablet down a chicken throat was easy~peasy. Hmmmm... I have cats...
So home we came with some trepidation because the truth is I have never medicated a chicken before. Very, very rarely have I ever had to do a cat. Their chicken wormer goes in their water. I am strictly hands off when it comes to medications ~ but, hey, it looked doable.
Do you have any idea how far a chicken can spit a horse tablet?
I looked for it for a good 5 minutes!
The 1st time it took me 1/2 an hour to get that tablet down a chicken throat. This afternoon we managed to get it all swallowed in 2!
Oh, & then we had to do the liquid stuff.
Apart from being terrified of aspirating the poor bird, she was completely terrified & I was in mortal terror of breaking her neck trying to get her to hold still. Yes, I had her wrapped in a towel. Yep, well tucked under my arm. No Idea how she could still turn into a squirming snake & do double somersaults in my arms.
She's obviously feeling a bit better. She is harder to catch & making her displeasure more known. I'm a nervous wreck but it has higlighted one thing: I need to get my glasses prescription changed.
I will post a picture with my hair standing on end because I have electrocuted myself. Don't worry, I haven't, the thing is still out in the sun charging up - but it feels like the inevitable outcome of this particular venture! You're a braver woman than me, Gunga Din!![]()

Oh thank you, that is making me feel more confident (though I hope it is enough to deter Ricky Raccoon and his friends). I am watching predator behavior on the coop cams so I can see where best to place the wire. But I still think I will do a temporary one first in any case. The good thing with solar fencer versus electric, is when you get zapped it just tingles. I've been zapped by many fences and solar is by far the least painful.
I think we may need a little about how you have been zapped by a lot of fences. How does that happen? Did you not learn the first time? The good thing with solar fencer versus electric, is when you get zapped it just tingles. I've been zapped by many fences and solar is by far the least painful.
Oh I didn't think of that! And if @CrazyChookChookLady didn't learn the first time, what hope is there for Ricky and Mr.Fox?!I think we may need a little about how you have been zapped by a lot of fences. How does that happen? Did you not learn the first time?
