Ribh's D'Coopage

That would have been handy information when we were building! :( Only my Campines will jump straight up rather than using the stairs & when I open the coop right up for summer they fly out. Everyone else uses the stairs.
We are in the same position - wish I had known that earlier - and mostly the ladies use the stairs except the Little Princesses who fly.

Yikes. I thought I researched everything about coop design before building the Chicken Palace but now you have me worried.
The big roost is about 2' off the ground at the up-hill end and the floor drops away so it is about 4' off the ground at the down-hill end. They use the ladders to come down (and mostly to go up as well) except for the Little Princesses who tend to fly everywhere (I think just because they can).
They have about 5' horizontal space if they go straight off the high end or 14' if they go off the low end - but none of the grown ladies has ever shown the slightest inclination to jump down. It is almost like it is too high even to try it.
I wonder if I should try to lower it. Kind of a big job. Ugh.
If they are not jumping down I would not worry. It's too high to tempt them. The legbars are flying to it so they have room to fly down if they want. You are fine.

@rjohns39 & @RoyalChick ~ @Lids is new here & reading from the beginning. This is dragging old posts forward & may be confusing your reading. I don't think you have missed anything important on this thread, Bob. FluffyButt Acreas is a different matter.
What happened on my thread? Did I miss something?

Ok. I get it now. Lot's of stuff on my thread. Things have happened. I think @RoyalChick is up to date on mine though.

Thanks. Observation of them suggests you are right. Probably lower would encourage them to jump down and as we have seen the Legbars will go even higher if given the chance.

Good morning all! 👋
Here is my pic of Dawn this morning. The haze is really the sea. We look out east on the Indian Ocean, halfway down the South Coast of South Africa, where we can see whales and dolphins romping in winter. IRL it looks much closer. I got the waning crescent moon and morning star as well 💗
ETA the flipping pic!
