Ribh's D'Coopage

Ceres has officially lost her mind.
This is where she is choosing to lay just now.

She can get in, but she can't get out!🙄
And this is why I need to work from home.
My bantams are officially nuts!

Oh that is seriously funny! But if you think about it, what choice does she have if she can't get out?!

Her throat is still gunky; I thought it was nearly gone. ☹️ I’m wondering if anti-fungal antibiotics would help, but I’m also wondering if it would just be kinder to have her put down. 😢

And yes, Penguin has new pin feathers.
My rule of thumb is: does this chicken want to live? A chicken who is still trying even if things are difficult [like Sif] gets help. One who has given up gets a one way trip to the vet. The vet should be able to help you evaluate.

Talking of Sif: She walked, without wing flapping to keep her balance, toes flat to the ground, from the shed to the patio this morning. She is resting now but throughout the day she will practice standing, balancing & walking as she gradually builds muscle tone again. I am so happy for her! 😊

Has River been to the vet yet? I can't remember if you said....
How is she in herself? Still doing chickeny things?

I hope the vet can guide you. :hugs

Sad news

I’m going to have River euthanised this morning. 😢 She seems to have developed wry neck and can’t hold her head up properly. I found her on the ground last night when I went to give her her meds, so I put her in the henhouse with her sisters. I was hoping she would die in the night, but she’s still alive, so I will call the vet in about 20 mins.

I don’t remember if you saw my physio-therapy video of Maggie. I don’t think Sid is quite ready for this but when Maggie lost her balance and needed her wings as legs I hung corn (her favorite) up high so she would have to stand up on tippy toes.
She definitely got better at it as she worked on it.

:hugsI'm so sorry. :hugs
Ok, sooo… having said that,
I went and checked on River, who had got herself into the corner of the run. Her head was completely upside down, so I picked her up and put her on the grass. I lifted her head up so she was the right way up, she gets up, walks off and starts eating! I gave her some pellets and she ate those. I’ll take her to an avian vet this arvo and see what he thinks.
