Ribh's D'Coopage

A lot of people view chickens as disposable. Too much work to save, it's just a chicken.
Probably has a lot of experience with people who wouldn't put out the effort for "just a chicken". She sure didn't show much promise when the vet saw her.
This is probably true generally but my Vets is a big practice & they see lots of people whose chickens are pets. Mostly they've been really good when I've had a problem though diagnosis has been problematic ~ as with Sif. Outside of straightforward things I suspect chickens are harder to diagnose than a cat or a dog because I suspect far less is known about them. Shad's Catalan community was a wealth of knowledge handed down for generations.

Give it up. They are plotting to take over not split off.

Sadly I think this is true. The next changing of the order will be quite telling as the hens left will be all the small to medium girls. Luna & Ha'penny came together & are now my oldest hens. After them it is Aoife & Beatha with the Wyandotte bantams & THEN everyone else but the Vorwerks being bigger hens are likely to dominate.

Such a wonderful story. I'm so glad the two of you have bonded. At least one of the Vorwerks is not all bad. :love :love
Since the upset they've settled right down so for the present they get to stay ~ but as I've said before, there will be no more of them. I don't consider them worth the trouble & there are other chickens I like much better.

Good morning/evening everyone 😊😴

Sif.
Still more than a little wobbly but her behaviour is so sweet. I was sitting outside for a while watching the girls sort out their morning. Sif slowly made her way to the patio, came over to me & lent against my leg before settling beside me, just touching. Her trust now is amazing as the Vorwerks have tended to be incredibly skittish still. Happy to see all her toes are spread out [not curled] & her feet are down flat.

She's come a long way, you've done a great job. Your love for them shows ❤

I beleive that your are correct that diagnosis of issues in chickens is definitely harder. My experience with both Lilly and Sansa backs that up. Both times Dr. Stern had to consult with others. In Sansa's case no one knew what was going on. In Lilly's case it wound up being "best guess". It's not exactly comforting but we managed to save one. We can only hope that as they work with our chickens they gain experience that will help future chickens.

Have you told them that? They should know you don't appreciate their attitude.
