No quarantine. He comes from the same owner as Leonard and half this flock is related to him. Shad will probably give me what for but I deemed the risks very low. He does have scaley leg mite ~ all the booted bantams had it when they arrived. I've got most of it under control though the vaseline is making a mess of everyone. He was dusted before joing the girls as I'm still battling stick flea ~ more vaseline. I've never had this before & it's a pain!Ribh it seems you are busy.
Till you give us more info. Are you quarantining this beauty? If not… how is he doing?
Accepted well. He's still young, about 6 months but he has beautiful manners & has been tit-biting like mad all morning with little luck. The girls seem happy to have a man about the place again though chary of squatting for him as yet.Nice looking fella! How's he settling in?
He has a wonderful iridescent green tail. I will try for pictures later.Wow - he is all golden! Gorgeous.
I lost Leonard this afternoon.
I had him up @ the house to treat him for stick flea when he began convulsing & died in my arms.
I couldn't have asked for a better rooster. His girls will miss him.

He won't. sometimes it just isn't practicable and sometimes if one knows the keeper the chicken is coming from it isn't necessary.Shad will probably give me what for
I know the keeper very well. Her birds free range over 2 properties & apart from the leg mite are really healthy & super broody. Sisters are raising 3 chicks in the middle of winter just now & I have a sitter, though no fertile eggs.He won't. sometimes it just isn't practicable and sometimes if one knows the keeper the chicken is coming from it isn't necessary.
Proper quarantine isn't at all straightforward in many circumstances. I took rescues in in Catalonia without proper quarantine. Granted they were kept separate as in not being able to mix with the others for a while, but there is more to effective quarantine than this.
If I can encourage people to at least think about the risks of introducing new birds to an existing group I will have achieved something.
Nice looking chap.![]()

Hanging with his girls. As you can see, it has gone well.
