RIP Beautifuls

Today I lost my baby girl Gertrude to disease and neurological disorders. We had to cull her. She was a great chicken. I mourn her greatly and she was such a big part of my life.

RIP Gertrude!

Dearest Gertrude,
You were the light of my life. I feel so empty without you and I love you. I'm sorry we had to end that way and you had to suffer. At least you are in a better place now. You were amazing.
I love you.

I'm so sorry you lost your sweet Gertrude - and that you had to do it yourself.

I lost my beloved RIR last month, and think about her every day when I'm ranging the flock. I believe we'll see our beloved pets again.

Yes. I don't think it'll get any easier, but maybe we can move on to a state where we can think kindly and appreciate that they are in a better place where they do not suffer.
