roo behavior

i have noticed a few times this week, my lil banty roo is biting the ladies on the back of the neck and then jumps up on their backs(while holding on the their necks),, wondering is this him trying to breed, or a dominance thing.. it doesnt seem to last very longs.. a few seconds useually

Welcome t the wonderful world of chickieporn... makes ya feel kinda silly watching it, dont it? lol All perfectly normal for them. In my flock, it seems the roos love to go after the hens right as they come out of the coop into the run, or a second in command will catch the stragglers on the way in. If it ever seems like theyre being mean, just remember all of those rooster duties they perform throughout the day. Also, smart hens learn how to circle a rooster and thwart his attentions until she is ready.

What's fun to watch is when the rooster will "wing it" aka put one wing down on the ground and look like a child playing airplane than hop onto the ladies!! Our rooster does this daily! Today, I caught him going after our BR lady, and all I heard was a bunch of squawking and he kept running at her, with the one wing down. Our family calls it the Oomi Zoomies... lol. It's funny to watch.
