Have a 7 wo EE names Nellie Oleson. What’s everyone’s opinion for roo vs hen. Will we have a name change?

EE is so hard to tell. I had 1 that I was sure was a cockerel...so I got rid of it. Not sure I was right. Now I have one that I’m on the fence with. Not as bright a comb as yours, and not a 3 row pea comb like yours. I’m leaning towards cockerel on your bird but I’m no expert.

I'd say cockerel, but I am not an expert. I think that patchy coloring is a sign of males in most breeds-female colors tend to flow more evenly down the body. The comb looks pretty big and red for only 7 weeks, but with EEs it's hard to tell. Also it looks like those hackle feathers could turn out pointy, but that may just be the pattern. Please don't trust me on this- I'm really not an expert, and EEs are especially hard to tell.

Sorry, thats definitely a Willie not a Nellie. The big red comb and blotchy red feather pattern are the giveaway. Beautiful bird though.

Can we see a pic of the entire body? The shape of its tail+feathers and the way it’s carried can help determine gender. But as of rn I’d guess cockerel as well.

I think you have a Willie Oleson instead of a Nellie. He's very handsome though!

I too am not an expert, but Nellie/Willie looks a lot like my Dixie/Dixon EE 12 weeks old. Hasn’t started crowing yet like it’s siblings Happy Feet and Alphie. Alphie we we’re able to find a great home on 5 acres, and is the only Rooster among 30 chics . It was so hard to give him away. I love my birds. My flock isn’t big enough for 2 Roosters. They were ALL supposed to be Pullets . So still waiting for Dix to crow or lay eggs. But everyone is pretty sure Dix is a Rooster too. Not giving up hope yet. Here are pics of Dix
