My roo nearly choked abd died jut now, his face is back to being red and he's jut chilling right now however are there any other check I should do to make sure he going to be okay? Like should I give him water or oil via pipet or things about his body like, hold his throat be hard? Any help would be appreciated as I love my boy and I'm very upset and shocked this happened-

Do you know for certain what he choked on? That's important. I had a hen choke on a cherry tomato and pass out. I was there when it happened and fortunately for her, I was able to shake the tomato free of her airway and she survived for another ten years.

If your boy is choking on dry feed, he may need to have his feed moistened before her eats it or ferment the feed you feed to your chickens. Or is he your only special pet? Unless there is a physical health issue causing a constriction in his throat, he'll be fine without any further treatment.

I don't think he choked on anything big or unusual, I hate that he had one on but he had a rooster collar on (learned officially to never use on ever again no matter how much my parents yell at me) and I think, since he tends to gorge this crumb feed, that he gorged and his neck swelled due to the collar. I want to be completely honest on this thread and not cover up the collar, I know people hate them (and i do too) and I know the backlash I'm going to get for it, but rn I just want the best for him. After he recovers I think I'm going to email a farmer I know and see if she'd like to look after him.

Don’t ever limit feed, since some will gorge when they finally get it. I doubt that is what happened but just wanted to mention it. I would agree that adding some water to a small bowl of feed changed daily, might slow his eating, and chances of getting a piece of feed stuck. Offer water, but never forcefeed oil, since they can inhale it and get lipid pneumonia.,

I wanted to come back to this to say what we have done now. We've permanently stopped using collars after my boy nearly passed away due to them, my family kept forcing me to put collars on until I put my foot down and said that enough was enough. I said "as long as he gets to live a happy chicken life with no collar ill be happy, even if he ends up living elsewhere" so we took his collar off and none of my neighbours mind the increased volume. We've had no noise complaints and I live in a VERY urban area so im actually surprised. I even prepared to send him to an animal sanctuary just in case-

So my lesson from this. Just take the collars off, its not worth it at the end of the day and if you really love your boys, don't use them. And this is coming from someone who tried EVERYTHING; cheap collars, expensive collars, elastic, bandage wrap, velcro etc. None worked and all caused issues. My boy is actually more quiet now than he was with the collar on, only crows once in the morning in his box and once in the afternoon now, as opposed to every minute with a collar on. Less and louder is always better than more and muted.

My boy is so much happier without a collar on. I will never EVER put one on again. I hope my story inspires others to ditch the collars- its really just not worth it.

They have crumb but the only issue with him is that he gorges it, I think that's partly how he choked in the first place- he doesn't drink much usually however so would you recommend me pipet feeding him water?
I'm not an expert but I think you should give him a little bowl of food every few hours or so, so that he doesn't eat more than he can swallow.
I'd just let him rest for a bit, he is probably more shocked than you are.
make sure he has access to water at all times, and if he's still not drinking in a few hours you can try to make him drink.
I wouldn't pipet feed him the water in case you put too much in there and he chokes again
