Rooster has frostbite on comb and SEVERELY swollen waddle

This morning was -26 wind-chill and -4 temp. They're in an insulated fish house with a heat lamp. It was cold enough in there to freeze the water.

As for cholera, I do not see any discharge.

Put the water in a syringe with out a needle and dribble the water into his beak. @casportpony knows about tube feeding

He was fine last night and today he can hold up his head.

Mine looks like he had gotten a little frost bite. I had bought vetericyn a couple of months ago for my other rooster that had gotten attack. Anyway, vetericyn can be used for frost bite. I see my rooster is starting to get some color back in the grey part. Can you bring him in a few days and spray the vetericyn on him a few times a day? Not sure what to do with the swollen but vetericyn might help.

You may have to help him drink, frostbite can be very painful. Can you hold a small cup to his beak for him?

Try not to disturb the comb or wattles if you can.

If you just brought him in, let him warm up slowly - let him become used to the 60degree space before you add any more heat like a lamp.

Comb definitely frostbit, but not really swollen.
Wattles are crazy huge, but do not appear to be frostbit.
Never heard of cholera...sounds like @azygous is familiar tho.
Curious about location and if temps given are in F or C?

The distended wattles could be early stage frostbite. Let's hope this is frostbite and not cholera. It's the same as the difference between sunburn or plague. He'll recover from frostbite.

Give him a baby aspirin. If it perks him up, it isn't cholera.

@canalcolt has good advice. Vetericyn is an excellent treatment for frostbite in that it will prevent infection without damaging the tissue further. Since it's a spray, you won't have to rub the tissue applying it.

Yes! I have my husband hold him and shield the roosters eyes and spray it on there. I love that product!
