Rooster in shock or having health issues?

Hello everyone.
I have 2 roosters in my flock of 24 chickens. Big Guy (real creative name, I know) is my best. He keeps the other rooster in line and all the hens like to stay close to him. He’s always had first say but is still a gentleman. This morning I saw Red going after BG and BG slunk away into a corner quickly. I noticed his comb and wattles were dark purple and he was shaking violently. Red kept going after him so I immediately put BG into an enclosed area. It’s been about 6 hours and he is still trembling slightly. His comb is dark purple and his wattles look to have blood puddling in them. He is eating some and drinking a ton of water but is down a lot. Is this something he’ll come out of or should I suspect sickness?

The first picture is today. The second picture is him when everything is going well.

purple comb and wattles indicates circulation/heart issues, usually. Stress can trigger all sorts of reactions and catalyze what were dormant health issues. Plenty of his favourite food, water, and peace and quiet may help him get over it, but now Red has asserted himself, BG's future is probably on the fringes of the flock rather than at the centre of it, assuming he does regain his strength.

Update…BG is still drinking tons of water (almost a quart and an half since 8:30 am and it hasn’t been very hot today) and his poop is literally water. He is no longer shaking but is still down a lot. He is wobbly when standing up. Is there anything I can do for him?

Have you checked Big Guy for puncture wounds? I hate to think the worst right off the bat. But all that water drinking could be because he is bleeding inside. Or it could be from all the shakiness. If he is used to being in charge and Red has challenged him and won, he may feel afraid of what is going to happen next. Red may have been keeping him from the food and water.

I just checked him over and there are no wounds that I can find. He had enough strength to put up some resistance when I picked him up. Now he is back to shaking. He just drank another 1/2 cup of water and his crop doesn’t feel very full. It seems to be going thru quite quickly.
The fight I saw this morning was no more than 1 minute. Last night everything was great.

Possible he got into some poison (rat?) he's trying to clear.. and the other guy just took advantage of the situation as chickens do?

For real that's too much water.. If I wasn't thinking his system was trying to clear something I would probably limit it.. that's not what I'm currently suggesting though.

Hope he recovers quickly! :fl

I wondered if he got into something but I don’t have any poison out so it’s quite confusing. I really hope he comes around. He’s such a nice guy.

It sounds like he's in shock, that condition can cause physical issues. If you have nutri drench you can give him that and give him a raw yolk "no whites" in a shallow dish once a day. Just hold the dish up to his beak and let him drink it. You will need to make sure he eats a fair amount of chicken feed a day. Keep him isolated till he gets better. You will need to monitor the roosters activity to avoid fights.
