Rooster or Hen?

I just want to double check my facts before he becomes dinner (can't have a rooster in the city). he is 5-6 months old and his parents are both white marans but he is more of a splash...

his tail feathers are starting to curl like a roosters at the top and he seems to have pointy hackle feathers and it looks like his saddle feathers are coming in. An boy does he STRUT.



If he is a rooster... at what age would it be best to prepare him?

He is definitely a rooster, and if you intend to eat him you should go ahead and slaughter him now. He is not going to get significantly any more meat on him at this age, and the longer you wait, the tougher the meat will become.
