Rooster With an eye injury after raccoon attack

I tried to get half of a baby aspirin into him yesterday but he was still kind of out of whack. He wasn’t gonna take it unless I forced him to and I really don’t wanna stress him out more. He’s acting a little bit more himself today so I was going to try again this morning. He doesn’t act like he’s necessarily in pain but roosters never do. I know he’s got to be in some pain. I’m hoping the ointment I’ve been putting on his eye does provide some relief for the pain
Are you giving him anything for pain? Aspirin is a common otc drug used in poultry.

I was thinking that too. With the daylight hours shorter when I get home it’s close to dark. But I have the day off today so I’m doing a full clean out because I need to do it anyway but it probably will at least help with a ‘reset’ for them. I’m sure they’ll fall back into place soon. I’m surprised my rooster is being so patient with me handling him this much. He’s never aggressive but he’s just not big on being handled. But he’s been very patient. Even this morning his eye is looking just a bit better. And he starting to seem to act a little bit more himself.
I did the electrolytes starting yesterday morning in a separate water container for them. And think I’ll keep that going through the weekend at least.
He's still a little off?
If so, then I'd get vitamins into him that contain E and B1(Thiamine). These may help since he's had head trauma. I would go with 400IU Vitamin E and 1/2 tablet B-Complex daily for a week.
To give pills, just pull down on his wattles, pop the pill into the beak, let go of the wattles quickly and let him swallow.
Roosters do seem to be quite patient during treatment. Not sure if it's just being a stoic or if they enjoy the attention. I've patched up several roosters for various things and I'm inclined to think they enjoy the attention:)

Well he went on in the coop on his own last night. He seemed a little reluctant but went in. And of course right now his ladies are going to follow him with little encouragement. And his eye looks so so much better this morning. It almost looks normal again. And I think that’s probably one of the reasons he’s acting like himself again. He came out of the coop he did do an extra walk around the entire fence of the run looking. Then he went right on to eating and every time I’ve come checked on him this morning yes pretty much back to normal now. I’m gonna put the electrolytes out for one more day just because it can’t hurt. Because they have the choice of plain water also

I'm glad he's doing better.
You're right, having an injured eye and probably limited eyesight could definitely put him off his game.
Sounds like he's up to being on patrol again.:)

Thank you all for all your help. I feel like if anything positive came it was definitely a good bonding experience for my rooster and I. As odd as it sounds. Wish the bonding experience could’ve been in less of a tragic situation but before if I even tried to touch him he sidestep out of my reach and I would respect his wishes not to be messed with. But now let’s me touch him. I can tell he’s not real thrilled about it so I don’t push the limit. But it’s good he knows he can trust me to help him if needed
And I’m also glad the cold snap we got didn’t delay his recovery
