Trousers just came out of surgery and I got a call from the vet. I will talk with her more in person later this afternoon to make sure that I understand what happened, but this is what I got from our conversation: The growth was not actually in his crop as suspected, but near the thymus gland in his neck. Some animals have this second thymus in their neck, and it atrophies as the animal ages. My vet discovered that his heart rate plummeted whenever the growth was disturbed/moved/touched. She was able to remove the mass, unless there is any deeper in his body.
The mass was also putting pressure on his crop and esophagus.

Our theory is that when Trousers would eat, or when he would bend over to peck/eat/drink, pressure would be applied to his crop, and pressure would be applied to the thymatic nerves and not only cause him discomfort, be he would probably feel very light-headed and woozy. This does fit perfectly with what I observed.

He is coming to right now, and seems a bit woozy but okay at the moment. They will monitor him this afternoon and then we will drive up and pick him up. The lump appears to be lymphatic but no more will be known until the pathology report comes back, which will take around a week.
