they were fuzzy little chick they need a heat lamp I just have no clueYour black bird is definitely a cockerel - there are distinct male saddle feathers showing and the crowing is just the icing on the cake. As for comb development, if the bird were a pure austrolorp he would have a larger comb at this point, but because this bird is either a mixed breed or an entirely different breed than you were told that goes out the window as the type of comb this bird has combined with having some head dress leads to not having that "big roo comb" so many people associate with all male chickens.
Were they fuzzy little day olds when you got them or a bit more developed? How long have you had them? I am wondering if the age estimate is maybe a bit off - which would also add to the issue of their appearance vs. gender cues.
the black one should be nearly pure australorp and it does have a single comb that is just a bit thicker
They are both roosters
