Rosecomb Thread

Pics
rosecombs are perfect pet and show chickens, aside from fact that they dont lay interesting colorful eggs, yet! anyone have any or ideas to get them to lay anything but white eggs?

A person could do a number of things to accomplish that task, but egg color should not really be a concern for such a majestic bird bred primarily for exhibition. I believe one would do more damage to teh breed by trying to make a utility bird out of it.

My interests are simple which is to bring back a few of the other varieties that can no longer be found, I firmly believe that by adding the color back into the showroom of these magnificent little birds interests will increase in teh breed.

Checoukan,
Good loolking birds, I assume teh earlobe damage you referenced is related to the red in his lobe? How are the females bodies?

Good Morning, and yes, the "red bruising" on the ear lobe is what I am refering too. It never goes away, and is a deduction in showing.
I have one picture on the hen in the group I can post, but the younger pullet will not show herself when she is alone. squats and hides, behind the others. This hen, raised her head way up when the camera's flash popped up.

I am looking for a female with a very solid body, with very very good earlobes and perferably a bit wide and larger breast, I will be placing her under a Birchen OE cock bird and working toward Birchen Rosecomb.

I think This color will look outstanding on them.

I am hoping to pick up a wheaton pullet or two as well for Columbian.

this is a Columbian male over Wheaton feamle cross in OE so the color transfers very easily using wheaton.
