Rosecomb Thread

Pics
Hi,
I am new to this thread - but so glad to find it! I love my Rosecombs! I have had them for close to three years. My girls usually go broody a bit later in the season, but until then I gather the eggs and try to hatch them. Last year I had "some" success. I have heard that the incubation period is the same as other chickens - temp is the same - but humidity should be lower during hatch. Can anyone give me any advice? I have good fertile eggs and would love to see them hatch

I would also like to add new blood to my little group - can anyone direct me to someone who sells chicks?

Thank you so much for any help! Of all my poultry my Rosecombs bring me the most smiles! They are busy little things!!!!!

pics please!

This morning I had 3 hatch :) 2 blacks and my first blue!!!!

Question for the experts: last summer I hatched 25 rosecomb chicks and 15 silkies. In 2 weeks I was down to 12 rosecomb chicks and I didn't lose one silkie. I mentioned this to a friend that orders 600 chicks from hatcheries every year and he said he loses more rosecombs than any other breed. What's causing this?

I normally have very little trouble with them once they hatch. They are much smaller than the silkies in my experience so might need to keep them separated. Also make sure the food is small enough for them to eat. What I feed basically looks like corn meal. I also make sure to use a medicated feed.

They usually are seperated from the silkies unless I only have a few of either breed but even then the rosecombs actually are mean to the silkies not the other way around lol they do get very fine medicated chick crumble. They will be perfectly heathy one minute ill check on them like 10 mins later and ill lose one they tend to be perfectly fine after about 2 weeks though....
