runner duck - cough or hiccups? aspergillosis?

Pics
this is poppy’s second day outside with the flock and I noticed that she’s no longer fluffed up. Her feathers went back to normal, and she never did molt. She wasjust all fluffed up which I guess was a symptom of worms.?🪱 anyway, my ducks all survived just fine for seven years with no dewormers at all until I got the two chickens last year and decided to use a dewormer on the flock but that’s when Poppy and three others were just babies so I didn’t deworm them. they do eat a lot of worms and they find slugs and to my shame I used to go slug hunting in my garden at night and get 20 or 30 slugs, and fed them to the ducks in the morning . i did this several times when I didn’t know better 😩
But yeah, Poppy seems a lot better. Praise the Lord!
That's good to hear. Do you think it was worms all along? I tell ya we have to eliminate to find the problem but sometimes I think we're better at it than vets.

back to talking about Poppy again she’s still squeaking like the hiccups thing and a little bit of a cough and I still hear some hoarseness in her lungs when I’m holding her, giving her the nebulizer with colloidal silver now twice a day and I gave her some rooster booster poultry cell this morning just to boost her up a bit

Poor baby girl I just don't know what else you could do for her.

How about her appetite ?
i’m thinking maybe trying baytril if it’s something that the tylan couldn’t treat . i wish i could take her to the vet but my husband said we have zero money this month . her little quack is so hoarse. 😥
i might just start baytril tonight idk if the dosage is 0.05 ml per pound. twice a day like for chickens? i just started a post asking about that in the emergency form. I hate to pump so much stuff down her throat her little body only 3 1/2 tiny pounds but she does not sound good.

Oh boy
after doing more research and finding these pages and charts I dont think I should treat her with Baytril. The first link by majestic waterfowl sanc has a diagnostic chart and Poppys symptoms best match up with Aspergillosis.
So I should beef up her Oxine AH treatments. When I had her indoors was when I was giving them and she seemed to be all better but when I stopped after a week she got worse.

Treating fungal infections with Baytril makes them worse.

New Aspergillus Treatment Options

It used to be that ducks and geese with aspergillus didn't stand much of a chance. Those that did survive had to endure long and grueling drug therapy that put their vital organs at risk. Recently, we have discovered a little known treatment for aspergillus and other upper respiratory fungal infections/diseases.

F10 SC Veterinary Disinfectant and Oxine AH are disinfectant solutions that can be used as nebulizing agents by putting them into a vaporizer for your duck or goose to inhale. This means, before administering, you must set aside a safe place to treat them. Our friends at Feathered Angels Waterfowl Sanctuary made a treatment tent by draping plastic over their quarantine pen. You can also use plastic to drape off a section of your barn.

Always follow product directions and safety information!

F10 SC Veterinary disinfectant and Oxine AH are safe and effective against a number of types of bacteria, viruses and mold and they're even safe for the environment. Both products can be purchased online.

Product Information:

Oxine AH comes in a larger, gallon size.

F10 SC Veterinary Disinfectant can be purchased in smaller, more economical sizes.

While experienced vets recommend either product, we only have dosage information for the F10 SC.

Before beginning any treatment regimes for your pet ducks or geese it is VITAL that you take them to a qualified vet first.

F10 SC Dosage for Ducks & Geese:

Fill a vaporizer with a mixture of: 4 mls of F10 SC / 1000 mls of water.

Place the afflicted bird into your "tent" and run the vaporizer for 30 minutes.

Birds can return to their normal routines in between treatments and do not need to stay in the tent.

Repeat this treatment 3 times a day, every 8 hours.

Only treat afflicted ducks and geese. Remove healthy birds from the treatment area during administration.

Continue treatment for 2-4 weeks under vet guidance. Most vets will want to see the duck or goose every other week for x-rays to monitor their progress (unless conditions worsen).

That is so awesome you found this.
Get her back on it!
Thank you for sharing the info I now have it bookmarked.
youre more than welcome I just went out to the coop in the dark with the neb and a lantern and sat inside there with a dozen very silly ducks and gave Poppy a good ten minutes of the Oxine with the little mask ,,. tomorrow morning I can start using the little pet carrier - I hadnt used it because it was so dirty and sticky in storage shed something had spilled on it . But its soaking now and hopeful it will be clean enough to use
