Runty Appenzeller Chick has Soft Bulge Beneath Vent (pics)

Update: It seems to be hardening up? something in there feels hard. Not the whole original mass, but a good portion of it closer to her underside.
As long as it's eating/drinking/pooping/moving around OK,
I'd just observe and maybe compare to other chicks every few days,
hard to say what's going on in there.

Penny (tiny peep) is still doing well! She’s pretty much the same size though 🤷‍♂️
My partner thinks the bulge/hard lump was an umbilical hematoma that coagulated.
Everyone now has a sneeze, unfortunately. She’s holding up very well! She’s actual sneezing less than the two larger Appenzellers.

Things got a little weirder today... she was on a rant so I picked her up to make sure her butt was okay, and she’s losing feathers on her abdomen? She’s getting dry, flaking skin and her down is coming off with it. She’s still lively and chatty. Just incredibly small compared to the other two zellers still, and now getting this skin problem in addition to her squishy butt issue.

Something's funky in there, hard to say if it will thrive or not.
Is the belly any more swollen than before?
As long as it is eating/drinking/pooping/moving around OK, I'd not worry.

Thank you for your support. I really needed someone besides my partner or me to say that. My rational mind knows that there's very little I can do but watch and make sure they're warm, fed, and watered. My anxiety brain on the other hand has a lot of ideas to contribute 💫

It IS nerve racking when one chick has issues, especially if it seems pretty OK.
Hang in there..... hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.
